All delivering an experience behind the wheel that is even more fulfilling than the destination.
This is not just another diesel evolution - this is a revolution. This is the world's first horizontally-opposed diesel engine to be featured in a passenger car. This is the SUBARU BOXER DIESEL. Mounted on the legendary Symmetrical AWD system, it benefits from the key characteristics of low-vibration and highly responsive acceleration. Boasting minimal inertia and friction with mountains of torque, this package changes all preconceptions you may have had of diesel engines. Its perfect balance and low centre of gravity will ensure you of an outstanding driving experience with unrivalled stability on every journey.

The Legacy will be the model to carry the first-ever diesel engine in the Subaru range.
- 'Boxer' diesel is Subaru's first diesel engine
- Arrives soon for Legacy, Forester and Impreza
- 170bhp, 250lb ft and over 40mpg in 2.0-litre unit
The engine is Subaru's first-ever diesel and should make its cars much more popular with British buyers.
It will be introduced soon with a progressive rollout across the Legacy, Outback, Forester and Impreza ranges. It will not be available in the Tribeca 4x4, nor is Subaru developing a bigger diesel for that car, saying the market is too small.
Like Subaru's petrol engines, the 2.0-litre diesel uses a boxer layout, which means the four cylinders are horizontally opposed. As one piston is forced down on one side, another one opposite does the same and balances their forces out.
This means that Subaru can promise low levels of noise and vibration. A boxer layout also has the advantage of being very compact, and it has a lower centre of gravity, which can help improve stability and handling.
Subaru is using BMW's 2.0-litre diesel as a benchmark, and says initial performance figures are 170bhp, 250lb ft of pulling power and a combined economy of over 40mpg. Subaru also says the low-down pulling power of the engine is combined with the kind of high-rev responsiveness most usually associated with a petrol engine.
The New 2009 Subaru Forester
Step inside a Subaru Forester, and you’ll know. It was built with a commitment to On and Off-road vehicles, driven by the spirit of innovation. A focus on ingenuity that generates control and exhilaration. Design that appeals to the heart as well as the mind. All delivering an experience behind the wheel that is even more fulfilling than the destination.
Combining SUV styling with the drivability, ease of use and performance of a saloon, the Forester features the same 2.0-litre SUBARU BOXER DOHC engine that delivers such great performance in the Impreza . Stereotypical SUV characteristics have been shattered by the Forester’s on-road acceleration and responsive handling. With high specification across the board, you will be sure to find the model to suit your needs. If you are looking for an SUV with the talent to shine in an active lifestyle, then look no further.
Prices will start from £17,995.00 OTR.
The New Impreza WRX STi
Subaru has announced that the eagerly-awaited new Impreza WRX STI model will go on sale March 2008 at £24,995 on the road - £1,600 less than the old model.
Equipped with a 297bhp turbo 2.5-litre boxer engine, new platform and suspension and upgraded all-wheel drive system, the WRX STI varies in bodyshape from previous models and mainstream Impreza models.
The horizontally-opposed 2.5-litre features variable-valve timing for the intake and exhaust system and a fast- warm catalytic converter for reduced emissions.
The boxer develops 297bhp at 6,000 rpm with torque of 300lb-ft at 4,000 rpm. Top speed is 155.3 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds, while fuel consumption is 27.4mpg on the Combined Cycle.
Subaru’s Si-Drive system gives the driver three different engine-response programmes at the turn of a switch, with ‘Super-Sharp’ Mode giving the ultimate in throttle response.
The six-speed manual transmission now features a shorter-throw gear-change and lighter movements, especially from neutral to 1st and 1st to 2nd gear thanks to a revised synchromesh.
Its wheelbase is 95mm longer and it´s 50mm shorter with shorter front and rear overhangs, while the STI is 55mm wider and front and rear tracks are 45 and 40mm wider.
A mesh front grille and deep bumper design with vertical air vents at either side to help cool the intercooler, while behind each front wheel is a vertical air outlet for the intercooler, topped by an ‘STI’ moulding plate.
An oversized roof spoiler with high-mounted stop lamp and integrated rear bumper diffuser reduces high- speed lift further distance the WRX STI from the mainstream Impreza.
At the rear, four exhaust pipes twinned in pairs at either side of the body not only give a distinctive look but reduce exhaust air-flow resistance by 38 per cent, increasing power and reducing noise.
Colour choices will include Subaru’s signature ‘WR Blue’ and while gold-coloured alloy wheels are available, other designs include high-lustre silver alloys measuring 18 x 8.5ins with 245/40R tyres.
The new Impreza WRX STI’s standard equipment includes Multi-mode Driver Control Centre Differential, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control system, ABS with EBD, Brembo brakes, cruise control, front, side and curtain airbags, 17x8" alloy wheels with 235/45 tyres, HID headlamps, Alcantara and leather front bucket seats, climate- control air-conditioning, 6-disc in-dash CD autochanger and MPS input.
Subaru plans to introduce a Prodrive-tuned higher-spec Impreza 2.5 WRX STI Type UK later in 2008.

New Subaru Justy
Subaru’s new Justy is now on sale, offering outstanding fuel economy, equipment and space plus ultra-low exhaust emissions.
With a 64.2 mpg Extra Urban figure, ultra-low 118 g/km exhaust emissions and annual £35 Road Fund Licence, the new Justy 1.0 R is one of the cheapest petrol-engined cars to run on UK roads.
However, the five-door body offers interior space from the next class up while the efficient, 69 PS three-cylinder 1.0 litre engine offers sufficient power for long-distance driving. Top speed, for example, is almost 100 mph and the 0-60 mph time is 13.5 seconds.
The new Subaru Justy also carries a peace-of-mind five-year/60,000 mile warranty backed by five-years' UK and European roadside assistance.
Standard equipment is outstanding for a small car and includes: ABS with EBD, driver, passenger, side and front and rear curtain airbags, alloy wheels, air-conditioning, radio/CD player, rev-counter, fuel-economy read-out, four electric windows, reversing sensors, remote central-locking with alarm and ISOFIX child-seat mountings.
The front-wheel drive Justy is based on the Japanese-built Daihatsu Sirion. It is supplied thanks to an arrangement with Toyota which has a share in both Subaru and Daihatsu.
The new Subaru Justy is priced from £8,495 on-the-road.
